Hayden Danhauer’s Eagle project workday will be this Saturday Aug 27 from 9-5. He will be building a deck stage at Simons Green Acre Community Garden on MLK Drive in Winston (the location of several recent T934 Eagle Projects).
Let Hayden know you can come help by emailing him at (his dad’s email) ScouterLMD@gmail.com or text his dad (336-414-5045). Bring work gloves as we will be moving lots of lumber.
We will be there all day Saturday. Come at any time that is convenient for you. Lunch will be served at noon.

Parents and Scouts,
As you know, the annual Popcorn sale is essential to the financial well-being of our Troop. What you may not know is that popcorn funds more that 60% of our annual operating costs. Popcorn is what buys cool things like Rank and Merit Badge patches, fun things like new tents and camp stoves and important things like new tires and brakes for Claire, the scout bus that Troop 934 owns and maintains.
What you also may not know is that for every $1.00 of top line revenue, Troop 934 automatically keeps about 35 cents. Another 30 cents of every dollar stays here in the council, indirectly benefiting your scout — for example, by funding upgrades and annual upkeep at Camp Raven Knob.
Door-to-door sales start Thursday, 1st September. Scouts will get order forms at the Welcome Back Picnic on Monday. However, we know that many parents prefer a simpler and more straightforward approach to popcorn – one that we call “Wagon Sales.”
Wagon Sales are where your Scout has an inventory of popcorn in his “wagon” as he walks door to door in the neighborhood. Instead of taking an order in September for delivery in mid-November, your Scout is able to immediately hand your neighbor his or her popcorn on the spot. The real benefit to you, as the parent, is do not have to help your scout chase deliveries into December.
Of course, there is a catch, at that catch is that you, as the parent, must make a small but meaningful commitment on behalf of your scout. That commitment is detailed in the order form that we have posted here https://www.troop934.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Wagon-Sales-Pre-Order-Agreement-Parent-Commitment.pdf and included (along with many other details) in the new “Popcorn” tab on our troop website, https://www.troop934.org/popcorn/
This Commitment form is due back to the Troop no later than 6.00pm this coming Sunday, 21st August. As noted in the form, we prefer that you turn it in to Ms. Treadway or Ms. Settlemire in person at MTUMC between 6.00 and 6.30pm. However, given the short notice (for which we do apologize!), an email submission is acceptable so long as it is received by the same deadline at the addresses detailed in the form.
Any questions please feel free to reach out to the members of the popcorn team:
Thank you!!!
The Welcome Back Party will be next Monday, Aug 22 at 6:30 at Leinbach Park. SPL elections will be held. Pizza will be served.
Hayden Danhauer’s Eagle Project fundraiser is a car wash at MTUMC this Saturday, Aug 20 from 10 AM to 2 PM. Please come out and help Hayden earn funds towards building a stage at Simons Community Gardens.
The Kickoff Picnic will be on Mon, Aug 22 at 6 PM at Leinbach Park (across Robinhood Rd from MTUMC). We will have SPL campaigning and election as well as advancement check offs, SMC’s and BOR’s (as needed) before our next COH on Sep 12.
There will be only 1 more meeting after the 22nd for check offs, SMC’s and BOR’s before our Fall Court of Honor on Sep 12. Raven requirements from summer camp will be automatically “signed off” in troop records. Raven Patrol Advisors have been given a list of what was accomplished and can sign off these requirements in Raven Scout Books.
Our Popcorn fundraiser will be starting right away as well. We have a BIG job ahead of us as the troop’s efforts last year left our coffers very low for this year. We want to avoid raising dues drastically, so we are asking all Scouts to make a sound commitment to sell their minimum quota.
Troop 934 will have a QuarterMaster room day this Thursday, Aug 11 at 1 PM. We will be reorganizing the equipment and cleaning and repacking all tents and patrol boxes. All Scouts and adults (please!) are asked to attend (including Ravens!). Please park in the main parking lot and come around back to the QM room door. Contact Lee Danhauer at ScouterLMD@gmail.com or text at 336-414-5045 to let him know you are coming
We will also have a Packing Party Thursday afternoon at 4:30 for those going on the Deep Creek Tubing Trip this weekend .
Daniel Snipes and his parents invite all T934 Scouts and leaders to attend Daniel’s Eagle Ceremony this coming Saturday, Aug 6, 3 PM at Ardmore Baptist Church. See you there!
