This Saturday, April 16, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Troop 934 will be hosting an Introduction to Leadership Skills Training course. Lunch will be served.
Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troop (ILST) is a prerequisite to the National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) course being offered this summer/fall at Camp Raven Knob. ILST briefly touches on many skills taught and practiced at NYLT.
If you plan to attend, please contact both Lee Danhauer (scouterLMD@gmail.com) and Dan Anthony (daniel_b_anthony@hotmail.com). We need one more adult leader to comply with the BSA rules of 2-Deep Leadership. Any adults interested, please contact us at the emails above.
No Troop meeting this week or next week (no school, no scouts). See you back at MTUMC on Apr 25. Remember to sign up for the Raven Point trip (Apr 29 – May 1) on the website.
Introduction to Leadership Skills Training (ILST) – a PREREQUISITE for NYLT is THIS COMING Saturday (Apr 16) at MTUMC. If your scout is even remotely interested in going to NYLT (now or in the future), he must take this course. Contact SPL Evan Danhauer by text to sign up (816-4176 with the usual area code).

Order of the Arrow elections will be at next Monday’s meeting (Apr4). All current OA members can/should wear their OA sash. Those eligible for election (non-members with 15 nights of camping, including 1 summer camp, and at least First Class) will be on the ballot.
Summer Camp registration is now starting. An email from Shannon went out to all email addresses she had on file. If you did NOT receive this email, please email Shannon at SSettlemire@triad.RC.com. Please note that if your son wants to sign up for the very limited slots for the ATV course session, Shannon needs to know this TONIGHT to get your son considered for the list. Other merit badge session selection forms (for non-Ravens) will be available at troop meeting tonight. A $150 deposit is required for your son to preregister for camp. This can be paid through the link on the Troop website (which will be created soon).
Registration (recharter) for the next year (2022-23) is now DUE. You should have received an invoice (from Square, our registration billing method) for your son which includes his BSA and troop dues for this upcoming year. We need to have this registration submitted my TOMORROW, MARCH 15, to the Council Office. If you have not registered your son by paying the invoice before we submit our registration packet, then you will be required to go through all the trouble to resubmit another application and make payment to the troop AND the council. In short, please make this payment TODAY.
The March Court of Honor (COH) will be tomorrow, Mar 7 at 7:00 PM at the MTUMC Alspaugh Worship Center. Every Scout is expected to be in attendance with a parent to honor those Scouts who have achieved a rank advancement or earned a merit badge since our last COH. We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.
Also, Sriman Katragadda will be having his Eagle Court of Honor Ceremony on Thursday, Mar 17, at the Alspaugh Worship Center at MTUMC at 7:00 PM. Please attend to celebrate Sriman’s achievement and recognition of this important milestone in his Scouting journey.
Scout Elias Bankson is coordinating an approved conservation service hours project this Saturday, Feb 26, in the Reedy Creek watershed in the Greenbrier Farm neighborhood (off Yadkinville Road in WS). The plan is to conduct stream/trash cleanup. Elias will be coordinating all scouts who show up at 9 AM at the Greenbrier Farm clubhouse located at 4225 Greenbrier Farm Road. Elias plans on the event to last until noon (or three hours of service). Please contact/text Elias at (normal WS area code) 749-3561 if your Scout would like to come so he can have a plan for all who would like to attend.
The next troop Court of Honor (COH) will be Mar 7. As such, Scoutmaster Conferences (SMC’s) and following Boards of Review (BOR’s) will be available at today’s and next week’s troop meetings for any Scout who has completed (with leader verification) all other rank requirements for the rank to which the Scout aspires for the March COH.
In addition, we have begun the “Rechartering” process for Scouts to reregister in Scouting BSA (and our troop) for another year. The total dues amount has not yet been finalized, nor has the payment method (we hope to possibly make it as easy and convenient as our outdoor sign up system). We need to have our troop registration report to the Council Office in early March. Be on the lookout for additional information soon.
Scouts and Parents (including current Webelos who will be bridging in March):
T934 has added two additional events in March: the Great Day of Service on Saturday, March 12th, and the Aviation Merit Badge College on Saturday, March 26th.
Every year Mr. Steve Kelley leads a patrol of scouts during MTUMC’s Great Day of Service. Scouts who participate will perform at least three hours of community service, which are needed for rank advancement. Scouts and Leaders will also receive a free breakfast and a pizza lunch courtesy of our sponsor organization, Mt Tabor United Methodist Church.
New this year, the NC Transportation Museum in Spencer is hosting a one-day merit badge college for Aviation Merit Badge. Scouts should complete all the requirements for Aviation MB during the event. This is a great opportunity for newer scouts to hit the ground running with an unusual elective merit badge.
Signup links for both are posted at Troop934.org/Calendar. Additional details (including start times) are in the Eventbrite description.
Thanks!!
