1st Meeting of the School Year + SPL Elections

Troop-

We have had great success with our spring event, summer camp, and our Zipline trip maintaining strict protocols and safeguards. The types of meetings we will have on a regular basis this fall may be varied and are yet to be determined.

However, we feel it is extremely important that we have 1 live meeting before the Court of Honor which will be held MONDAY, AUGUST 31 AT LEINBACH PARK across the street from MTUMC at the shelter. We are not having a cook-out per se , but will have pizza for those that want it. Like at camp, it will be carefully dispensed by masked and gloved servers and will not be touched or breathed upon by those in line. We will take temps upon arrival and will ask everyone to be masked when within 6 feet of each other. Weather permitting, we will hold our meeting out on the grass with seats spaced apart so please bring a camp chair with you.

Come at 6:15 if you need to turn in any advancement, need a Scoutmaster Conference or a Board of Review. We will start serving Pizza at 6:30 and will start the meeting as soon as Reviews are completed.

Our candidates for SPL will be allowed to speak briefly and we will elect our 20/21 SPL. We will also talk a bit about the plan for this fall.

Please respond to davidhelms@weicherttriad.com and state your name and yes or no to let me know if you are coming. If it’s a family of multiples, give me the number also. Thanks.

Wearn Eagle Project

 Troop-

Jonathan Wearn is doing his Eagle Scout project and needs volunteers on Saturday, August 22 at 9 AM. We will do three hours of work during this time and it counts for service hours.

Work will include placing three (3) benches already built plus building a platform for four trash cans. Please bring a pair of work gloves and a rake to do light clean up if time permits.

Location for work is Saint Paul’s Cemetery in Kernersville. The address is 711 South Main Street, Kernersville NC 27284. It is between Cagney’s Restaurant and The Stafford House. Look for the balloons at the driveway into the cemetery. You can park along this driveway.

Please email Jonathan at jonathanwearneagle@gmail.com to let him know if you can come so he can plan for snacks, and lunch will be provided at the end of work.
Due to Covid-19, please wear a mask.

Zipline Trip Is On

Troop-

I’m delighted to announce our zipline trip is able to proceed. I’ll get to the details in a moment. First I wanted to let you know our back to school picnic is canceled. It is extremely important to hold 1 meeting before our COH in September. Stay tuned for details on that. If you wish to run for SPL, you must let me know immediately.

Zipline details:

Departure time TBD. A signed health waiver (like we used for CRK) will be required. We will take your temp before your ride can leave. We will bunk 1 person per tent unless we have written permission from the parents of all parties sharing. Family members sharing are exempt. Masks will be worn on troop transportation, while ziplining, and anytime social distancing isn’t possible. Please bring a pair of sturdy work gloves for ziplining.

Everyone who attended summer camp can follow these protocols easily. Meals will be cooked centrally and served on disposable dinnerware by masked and gloved personnel.

We have the required leadership but would really prefer 2 more adults. PLEASE consider attending if you are able. This is an easy trip and lots of fun.
